Products
Overview
Products are the core of Artist Management Studios and its goals are to help with pricing, managing consignment, creating an online order catalog and generating reports.
Create Product
Navigate to Product home page then click "Create New Product" button in the top right.
Notes:
- Material Cost will be overwritten if components are added to the product later.
- Retail Price can be left at 0 and then changed later after setting up pricing configuration.
Generated SKUs
Since AMS handles the association of detailed product information to SKUs there is not as much need to include such information into the SKU itself. This allows for both shorter and auto-generated SKUs.
AMS generated SKUs combine a configurable prefix with incrementing suffix. For example with a prefix of "AMS" the result would be "AMS00001".
Setup
To autogenerate SKUs simply setup "SKU Prefix" in Business Properties. Then when creating a new product the generated SKU will be included.
Regenerate All Product SKUs
To regenerate ALL product SKUs, except inactive products, navigate to Product home page then click "Regenerate SKUs" button in the top right.
Details / Update
Navigate to Product home page then hover over a record in the products table and click ellipses (…) to see "Details" option.
Add Components
Adding components updates the material cost of goods to help with pricing. Click "Product Components" in the top right to open the add component interface.
Use "Filter 'Add Components' Table" to filter down the "Add Components to [Product Name]" table. To add component hover and click "Add Component" button. Then select QTY (Units) and submit, and the bottom table will update with current components for that product.
Note: Same component line items do NOT combine. This means that it can be added to a product multiple times with varying unit quantities.
Pricing
Pricing is done in three steps and recalculates live as you make changes:
-
- Cost of Goods sold - Fill out Labor minutes, labor rate, and material cost (Either manual override or by adding components) to get the Cost of Goods Sold.
- Pricing Rates - Adjust markup or retail rates as needed. Locking Markup Rate will prevent changes to Markup Rate in Business Properties from updating that specific product.
- Pricing - See suggested retail price (based on COGS and Markup Rate) then set the "Product Retail Price" to see profit margins based on set price and retail rates.
- Update - after making changes don't forget to save them by clicking "Update".
Product Filter
Defaults to filtering by the opened product. However, it can be used to filter by an entire collection, to then allow paging through filtered products to make changes.
Usage example and steps:
-
- Delete value in "Product SKU" field.
- Select other filter values and hit "Search"
- Review/Update shown product then use pagination arrows at the bottom of the form to page through filtered products.
