Components

Updated on Feb 02, 2026

Overview

The goal of components is to help build and maintain a knowledge base on all the components/services used to make products. Then to leverage that information when pricing products and calculating their cost of goods sold.

Create Component

Navigate to Component home page then click "Create New Component" button in the top right.

Cost Per Unit

Components are priced by their corresponding unit of measurement. This makes it flexible to fit different kinds of materials and easy to use with multiple products that use varying amounts.

Examples:

  • Gold could be priced per gram.
  • Precious stones could be priced per carat.
  • Painting services could be priced per inch painted.
  • Packaging Material could be priced as all materials used to ship 1 product unit.

Details / Update

Navigate to Component home page then hover over a record in the components table and click ellipses (…) to see "Details" option.

Delete (Set Inactive)

Components cannot be deleted but instead can be set to inactive at the bottom of the details page. For more information view Active/Inactive documentation.

Copy & Add

Selecting the "Copy & Add" option in the component table will open the form to create a component but will copy field values over from selected component. Clicking "Create" will then make a new component, leaving the original unchanged.

Quick Edit

Quick edit is a faster way to edit multiple table records. It can be accessed with "Quick Edit" button at top right of component home page. For more information view Quick Edit documentation.

Bulk Upload

Bulk upload allows for csv file import and can be accessed with the "Bulk Upload" button on the component home page. Be sure to read ALL instructions in the pop up window to prevent errors.
